How to become a licensed security guard in Ontario

In order to work as a security guard in Ontario, you must have a valid security guard license. The license must be issued by the Ministry of community safety & correctional services of Ontario. The Ministry requires that you meet all the requirements listed in the (PSISA) Private Security & Investigative Services Act to become a licensed security guard in Ontario. 

 Requirements to be a licensed security guard in Ontario are listed below:
  1. Be at least 18 years of age or older.

  2. Have a clean criminal record.

  4. Take the security guard Ministry exam, which can be done at Service Ontario across Ontario. The exam has 60 multiple choice questions and you need 62% to pass. [Security Test Booking Service Ontario]

  6. Once you receive your Ontario security guard license you are good to work as a security guard in Ontario.

  1. The online application is the fastest way to get your Ontario security guard license, it usually takes 5-7 business days.

  2. The paper application can take up to 4-6 weeks.
